Children of Mary Group

History

At the rise of the year 2007, a project aiming at the assistance of the sick and the poor saw the light of day under the wing of the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lebanon, Harissa (Lebanon).

Members and name
This project was launched by a group of laymen “Awlad Al Azra” (Children of Mary)who pray together daily in Her Sanctuary and decided to fully explore the Christian’s life by deeply living his human and religious mission.

Purpose
This project targets monthly assistance in all circumstances regardless of the nationality, confession or residence of the sick or needy.
This is actually translated by ensuring drugs for every sick person holding a recent medical report, after checking his case with the treating physician. Those suffering from chronic diseases as well as the elderly come in the first place, and so far we are catering for the needs of 100 patients.
Moreover, we are providing:
-  Food for the needy with limited income as well as 4 orphanages: various cereals, canned foods, milk for children….
-  Main house needs:handkerchiefs, toilet papers, detergents and cleaners for about a hundred families, in addition to diapers for babies and elderly.

Practical implementation
Members of this group work on delivering any kind of assistance to the residence of the needy, creating henceforth a human bond that will help him/her out, filling one’s heart with hope and expectation.
Despite focusing on these fields, it is worth mentioning that we have been compelled to assist differently patients with an urgent need of surgery (contact with hospitals, ensuring main hospital fees by calling around every supporter..).
All aids are kept in a warehouse, where they are divided according to the needs and well distributed according to organized files (mentioning the assistance date, family name and full address) opened to the public.

May God protect you and bless your humanitarian deeds on all levels!
